PREMIUM MULCH FOR HEALTHIER SOIL

Naturally enchance your soil and cultivate vibrant plants.

What is ramial chipped wood?

Ramial Chipped Wood (RCW) is a 100% organic soil amendment made from freshly chipped, young, leafy branches.  Packed with essential nutrients, RCW replicates the natural regeneration process of the forest floor, improving soil health and creating a thriving ecosystem.

Why choose our premium mulch?

Boosts Soil Fertility and Microbial Life

Encourages beneficial microorganisms to enrich the soil, transforming RCW into humus and gradually releasing nutrients

Improves Soil Structure

High in lignin and cellulose, this mulch enhances water retention, reduces erosion, and stabilizes soil on slopes or dry conditions.

Reduces Chemical Ferilizer Use

Provides natural nutrients, cutting reliance on synthetic fertilizers for a more sustainable solution.

FAQ

What makes Ramo mulch different from traditional mulches?

Traditional mulches are often made from forest residues, like bark or wood chips, and provide limited nutrients. They are primarily used for aesthetics and weed control. In contrast, Ramo’s RCW is made from freshly chipped, nutrient-rich young branches. It enhances soil health by enriching it with nutrients, boosting microbial activity, and improving soil structure for long-term benefits.

What thickness of RCW should I apply?

Apply a 1 to 2-inch layer (2.5 to 5 cm) of RCW for best results. One bag covers 16 square feet. Spread the RCW evenly over the surface without burying it. Allow it to rest on the soil surface to decompose naturally and release its nutrients.

How often should I reapply Ramo mulch?

RCW should be reapplied every 3 years. Over time, it breaks down naturally, enriching the soil and maintaining its structural benefits. In high-demand areas, such as vegetable gardens, you may consider refreshing the top layer more frequently.

Does Ramo mulch attract pests?

No, RCW mulch does not inherently attract pests. By promoting healthy soil biodiversity and microbial balance, it creates a natural defense against certain soil-borne pests. As with any mulch, avoid piling it directly against tree trunks or plant stems to prevent potential issues.

Will Ramo mulch acidify my soil?

No, RCW mulch will not significantly acidify your soil. Made from deciduous species like willow, it has a neutral or slightly alkaline pH after decomposition. RCW contributes to a balanced soil environment that supports plant growth, regardless of your initial soil pH.

Will RCW cause a nitrogen deficiency?

RCW can temporarily immobilize nitrogen at the soil surface during the early stages of decomposition. However, this phase is short-lived and does not affect plant roots. To avoid issues in annuals or vegetable gardens, add a small amount of nitrogen (e.g., 3 teaspoons of nitrogen fertilizer per bag of RCW) at application. Over time, RCW releases nutrients and sustainably improves soil fertility.
